So as you may have guessed, my polyphasic experiment has been over for over a week now…
Basically what happened is that I became very tired at work in the morning, completely zombie, I couldn’t do much, and wasn’t really motivated by doing anything. I went to take my noon nap, which went fine, I took my 6 o’clock nap, perfect. I went for my core nap around 1 and woke up at 9AM…
I don’t really remember what happened, did I switch off my alarm clock? Did I wake up at 4? Whatever…
I definitely failed because of will power, but looking back, it couldn’t last long anyway.
Polyphasic sleeping is definitely not made for people who have “normal” lives, Everyman included. It’s just not possible. You have to completely commit and sacrifice some freedom in order to succeed, even after the adaptation period. This confirms what I was thinking at first, but at least I tried :)
The great part, that I definitely had the chance to experience, is the incredible dreaming experience. I don’t regret it one bit, the noon naps were worth ten times the sleep-deprivation I went through. I can’t explain how great the dreams were, and how vivid they were, you’ll have to try out for yourself :)
There is no question that I will try this again some time where my schedule permits it. Building my own business? This time, it will be Uberman. It seems way more appropriate to use this schedule if you have the right lifestyle for polyphasic sleeping. Adaptation is harder but much quicker, and I HATE that core nap…
I won’t close this blog just now as I may continue to post polyphasic related stuff :)
